Inter and Belgium star Romelo Lukaku joins the Maserati family
Maserati is undergoing a (much needed) PR makeover
Maserati is undergoing a (much needed) PR makeover, which started with FCA when they announced the all-new MC20 and is likely to continue under Stellantis. In fact, I expect (and somehow hope) Stellantis to up the ante because Maserati has great potential and it's about time they made the most of it.
The problem is that for the last twenty years, Maserati has built good-looking cars that sound great and... that's about it. The Granturismo, for example, was gorgeous to behold and the V8 made a fantastic noise but it wasn't exactly overwhelming to drive and it wasn't as good as it should/could've been. It's time to shift the tide and if we're to believe Stellantis boss Carlos Tavares, there are big plans for the brand.
At the moment, the brand is trying to revamp its image in Europe and Italy and they've enrolled Romelo Lukaku as a brand ambassador to help them do just that. Lukaku, all-time top goalscorers for the Belgium National Team, currently plays for Serie A leaders Inter and has been the biggest name in Italian football (along with C. Ronaldo) since joining the club in the Summer of 2019.
