IONIQ teases the sharp looking IONIQ 5 electric SUV
A striking design!
2021 will see the arrival of a wave of new-generation electric vehicles. Among them is IONIQ, Hyundai's newest electric car brand, which will soon unveil the very promising IONIQ 5 SUV. Recently announced via a teaser revealing almost nothing, the vehicle appears for the first time without camouflage.
If the car is still shy, remaining partially covered in darkness, it is possible to see almost all of its final shape. And to say that one is pleasantly surprised is an understatement, since the IONIQ 5 is very much a faithful replica of the impressive Hyundai 45 concept presented in Frankfurt in 2019.
The front end has a double pair of U-shaped headlights recessed in a thin grille. They will feature Matrix LED technology, which allows the car to be driven with the high beams without dazzling other road users. The bumper has diagonally bent ends.

Despite its name, the IONIQ 5 keeps the Hyundai logo on its bonnet. The vehicle will be equipped with camera mirrors as on the Concept 45, but they will be larger for safety reasons. From the side, you will notice 20-inch wheels with a turbine pattern. The wheel arches have an original look with sharp edges.
The rear part is consistent with the front. There is the same banner as well as double pairs of rectangular taillights. The IONIQ 5 logo is located underneath the Hyundai emblem. The vehicle's technical specifications are as interesting as its design. The electric SUV will have two motors producing a combined power of 313 PS.
Two batteries will be offered with capacities of 58 and 73 kWh for respective ranges of 280 and 340 mi (450 and 550 km). In terms of recharging, the Korean SUV will feature 800V technology allowing rapid charging: 0 to 80% of the battery in just 18 minutes. The IONIQ 5 will be officially presented in the coming weeks.
