Is Audi Sport Cooking up a Hot Version Of the E-tron Quattro?

Audi has recently joined the party with its first electric SUV, and the stats aren't ground-breaking but nor are they disappointing. The car produces 356 hp and on 8 second stints can squeeze up to 405, but that is no where as close as the 762 power output of a Tesla Model X P100D. So does Audi want to be left behind or will they chase after that P100D?

Well, the good news is, according to Motor Authority, Audi might have that in mind. Particularly Audi's ballistic missiles department, Audi Sport may show interest in carrying the world's fastest electric SUV title. According to Motor Authority we might actually get to see one in 2020 as a 2021 model.

But is that true? Well, I'd say yes. If we look back at the E-Quattro Concept revealed back in 2015, that car produced 496 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque. Sure it was just a concept but EVs have come a long way since 2015 and clearly if Tesla can do it so can Audi. The issue isn't extracting all that power, but it's how to extract the power whilst still being efficient enough to give it an edge over the competition. After all the war of EVs isn't about who has the most powerful engine like it is with the internal combustion engines but instead its mostly about efficiency and range.

In conclusion, the idea of a high performance E tron Quattro is out of reach, but will they nail it? Now that's a question to be answered in the near future.
