Is Bugatti seriously considering an all-electric SUV?
Right now if you want to buy Bugatti you've got three cars to choose from: the Chiron, the Chiron Sport 110 Ans and the Divo.
Production for all three hypercars is limited to only a few every year and theoretically there's a fourth one, the La Voiture Noire, but you can't actually buy that because only one was made and it's already been sold.
However, Stephan Winkelmann, president of Bugatti Automobiles, understands the automotive world of today like few others and that's probably the reason why he said that they want expand beyond hypercars, and all options are being considered.
Rumour has it that Bugatti is even considering building an all-electric SUV, thus creating a potential rival for the Lamborghini Urus, the Bentley Bentayga and the Rolls-Royce Cullinan.
We've been hearing all kinds of speculation and hearsay about an upcoming SUV and some say Bugatti might be thinking about an all-electric three-door SUV, which sounds weird if you think about it. Regardless of shape and the number of doors, the main focus is inevitably put on the powertrain because Bugatti is a subsidiary of VW and that means there's a plethora of possibilities available under the giant wing of Volkswagen.
There's another option as well because Porsche, which is also part of the big VW family, recently purchased a ten per cent stake in Rimac, the Croatian car manufacturer that makes the C_Two, and Bugatti has been reportedly gathering information about the purchase of Rimac’s 1,850 horsepower powertrain.
At the moment, Bugatti has neither denied nor confirmed anything about it, or about its SUV, and if you search the Web for renderings, you're going to find a thousand different results. Some are quite appealing while others are quite simply appalling. The only thing we know for sure, this being Bugatti, is that any new vehicle would still be made in limited numbers and would still come with a price tag to match.
