Ford debuted the GT racecar even before the actual road car. The GT racecars went on to secure the class category victory at Le Mans in their debut year. The road legal GT version received most of the design cues from the race car and if you have seen the review videos, everyone agrees that the GT is a very raw car built specifically for the racetrack.

The GT deliveries across Europe have finally been set in motion. A heritage edition red coloured car from Germany became the first new GT to lap the Nurburgring. Now reports are coming in that Ford themselves has serious plans for the GT's Nurburgring lap time.

A blue Ford GT driven by racecar driver Dirk Muller can be seen driven to the limits in the above video. The driver goes flat out and scratches the surface when diving into the infamous Karussell. However it remains to be seen if Ford can actually break the lap record at the Nurburgring for production cars. The new record belongs to the yet to be unveiled Lamborghini Aventador SVJ. The lap record bragging rights have been shifting between Porsche and Lamborghini for a while now so it should be interesting if Ford can pull off a surprise for the world.

Do you think the Ford GT can break the new record of 6:45?

  • Little observation: it is sruggeling to distribute power on bumpy parts, matching tyre sqeal supports this. Lambo and Porsche seem to have less rebound and more grip.

If this is the case, and more squeel and bumpier ride means not an opti,al lap time. This car should be close to the others in weight and power..maybe setup can be fixed or am I wrong and full of bs?

  • I will eat my own socks if Ford beats the Aventador SVJ's 6:44.97.

  • looks to me like is has huge suspension problems. See how the front and rear are bouncing at different intervals?

  • I think the GT will be able to sub 7 but not 15 seconds below. My guess is right around the GT3RS, so about 6:57-6:59
