Is NFS Payback A Good Game For Photography?

An overview of my experience with this game and what it left me with.

A couple months ago Sony released NFS Payback for free on PS Plus, I picked it up, happy to see my library of racing games increase by one. I downloaded and launched the game surprised to see a story mode.

First the story was intriguing, then it fell flat and I became uninterested quickly. Ultimately finishing the game with speech audio at zero because the voice acting got annoying. I had accumulated around seven cars in my play-through. I had stayed conservative, saving then buying the best car from each class. I finished the game roughly a week after download and that was it, assuming I had got the best out of the game I deleted it and left it for a month. The most notable thing about the game wasn't the story, races or map. For me it was the cars and the customization.

I dowloaded the game again roughly a month after its deletion from my Playstation. I had discovered the most profitable race that made it easy to get money quickly. This was my outlet for buying new cars and upgrading them. I delve deep into car customization and tuning and when I was done I had a fleet of 30+ cars at my disposal. All of which were tuned to the maximum. I had so much money that when I had friends over I would let them buy cars and customize them. Once again thinking I had got the best out of this game. I was wrong.

Enter portrait mode, it had always been there but my gearhead brain wasn't interested in photos. I just wanted faster better looking cars. Well, better looking is what I got. I realized that you cannot share how driving a car feels, the next best thing is to capture that cars essence with a photo. I set off to work

Custom cars, custom images. Filters, exposure, depth of field, blur, the list goes on. captivated by my new discovery I continued to take more pictures.

Pictures Pictures Pictures! I couldn't get enough, two tones, monotones, all the tones. Ok probably not that last one, but you get my point. The game had a fresh life to it and even today I still use it to create wallpapers.

If you gave this game a look and want to buy it, you can find it around $20 US Dollars, or if you picked it up on PS+ and haven't tried it yet I highly recommend you do so. The game is great and I did have fun playing it, the racing mechanics are good and the drifting is fun. I give this game a 9.5 out of 10, as long as you ignore the dialog and tint your windows to an illegal extent so you cant see the ugly characters inside. Ultimately, this is a good game for photography.
