Yes, yes, that is the new Dacia logo and yes, there are new Dacia models. Is it too late to say good news or is there like a five-second rule to that too?

GOOD NEWS! Tonight on 'Renaulution', Alpine becomes an EV brand, Lotus and Alpine join forces to make an electric sports car, and some good news about our good brand, Dacia!

The Romanian marque will expand in the years to come with the addition of three new models, one of which will compete in the C-segment. To the surprise of...well, no one, the larger model in question will be an SUV. The unnamed model made a brief appearance in concept form during the official presentation of Renaulution, looking tougher and more rugged than the smaller Duster. It goes without saying the production vehicle won’t look exactly like this, but I like what I'm seeing so far.

It will be 4.6 metres/181.1 inches long, making it about 28 cm/11 inches longer than the Duster. The compact SUV, (which for some reason is named the Bigster) is being engineered to accommodate hybrid and alternative powertrains, with the latter likely meaning LPG and/or CNG.

The bigger Dacia will follow two new models, one arriving next year and the other in 2024. Group Renault aims to forge a stronger relationship between Dacia and Lada to cut costs by reducing the number of platforms from four to just one. In addition, the company with the diamond logo aims to eliminate seven body styles, reducing the number to 11.

Details about whether the new logo for Dacia will actually be used going forward are not available for now. If that’s the case, the brand will follow Kia and GM as both companies recently refreshed their brand identities.

  • I’m not 100% on the Bigster. I’m not a fan of the styling and i bet if it came to market it would be on the same platform as the Renault Kadjar (which is a very nice car, but even with 4WD I don’t think it’s as good as the Duster). Regardless I am excited for Renault in the years to come
