There's no doubt that the Porsche 911R is an amazing car to own and drive, but is it really worth the crazy premiums that they demand?

So what is the R? It's essentially a manual version of the GT3 RS without a wing and that's about it. There's no extra power, fancy gizmos or glamorous extras, so why does it cost so much?

It's apparently going to be the last manual car that Porsche ever make. They've also tried to style it a little more retro than the other current models to bring back that classic Porsche look that we all love. Being a limited edition it was always going to climb in value, but nobody expected it to rise this quickly.

Browsing through AutoTrader and a decent GT3 RS with low mileage will set you back around £215,000 give or take depending on colour and specification. If you want an R, the only one I could find on there was up for £410,000 with delivery miles. My maths isn't great but that's almost twice the price just for a manual gearbox.

Doug DeMuro goes through the ins and outs of the 911R and decides on whether or not it's worth the crazy money.
