Is The Blazer A Good Choice For A Crossover SUV?

I had the keys to this Blazer for a week. Here are my thoughts.

Chevrolet re-birthed the Blazer name for the 2019 model year after being on hiatus for quite some time. Instead of making it a typical SUV like everyone remembers them to be, Chevrolet made the Blazer to be a crossover. It took everyone by surprise. Some people are not quite sure what to think of it. Is it a good choice for the family? Is it worth the money? Let's find out.

Exterior Styling

"...angry and intrigued..."

The exterior of the Blazer looks like a jacked-up Camaro with four doors and a wider rear. After the front fascia, the edges and lines blend well together to make the Blazer look more like a proper SUV than a crossover. It is quite beautiful to look at as well. The Blazer looks like it is angry and intrigued at the same time. Not only that, but it looks good in almost any color. I am just happy it is not as ugly as some other models that have been deemed a crossover SUV.

Interior Design

"...doesn't roll around..."

The interior of the Blazer takes styling cues from the Camaro as well, especially the circular air conditioning vents. The best feature of the Blazer has to be the trunk's adjustable locking bar that keeps whatever in the back in place so it doesn't roll around while driving. The seats, like all GM vehicles are comfortable. The panels and trim of the interior blend well with the leather, metal, and plastic. Space inside is pretty much as one would expect out of an SUV. I can sit behind myself comfortably in each seat.

Pricing and Options

So, how much does this Blazer cost? After everything, the total cost comes to $49,060. What does that come with? Well, for safety, it has lane change alert, blind spot monitoring, HD rear vision camera that has the display on the rear view mirror, rear park assist, teen driver, following distance indicator, forward collision alert, enhanced automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist with lane departure warning, front pedestrian braking, surround vision, adaptive cruise control, and a whole bunch of airbags. The government ratings gave the Blazer an overall score of "5 Stars" where the only two "4 Stars" were given in the rollover and passenger frontal crash categories. For comfort and convenience, the Blazer comes with Bluetooth connectivity including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, sat-nav, active noise cancellation, Bose sound system, voice recognition controls, power lift gate, heated and ventilated powered front seats, heated power tilt and telescoping steering wheel, heated rear seats, and 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot.

Performance

"...down a winding..."

The Blazer, in Layman's terms, performs like a sports car in some cases. The steering is as sharp and reacts just as fast as the Camaro. The suspension keeps everything tidy while making sharp turns or going down a winding road. All the while, the Blazer's ride comfort was never compromised in any way. The Blazer remains smooth and well poised, keeping the focus on the driver and passengers to make sure there are no aches and pains after a long drive. Fuel economy was not the best with my driving habits. I was able to achieve 17 miles to the gallon with only being in what is considered the city. I am sure someone could get better fuel economy than myself so don't let that be the be all end all.

Take Some Time Out And Look At These Watches

VINCERO Watches has partnered with North's Auto Reviews and I. Below are links to two watches, both Men's and Woman's alike. The Men's watch is named "The Bellwether" with a blue face and steel band. The Woman's watch is named "The Eros Petite" with a fog gray leather strap and white face. Both watches are luxurious but can be worn anywhere. Unless you work with your hands. The conclusion, if you want to get to it right away, just continue scrolling.

Conclusion

"...the sheer sake..."

So, the question was is the Blazer a good choice for a crossover SUV? In short, yes it is. It might be on the pricier end of the spectrum, but it offers much more for the price when compared to other models, and is cheaper but has the same options as more expensive models. It is a great in-between SUV. I would buy it for the sheer sake of how sporty it can be. Sure, the V6 doesn't make gobs of power, and that is alright. I would rather have it be able to have fun going into some corners. Plus, it can be a great family car as well.

  • In lamest terms? Don’t you mean laymen’s terms?

  • I love how they haphazardly stuck a Blazer badge on the doors. It’s like a blind person put it there and someone thought that was normal.
