Is the Honda e worth £29,000?

From charge times to 'is it worth £29k' - I answer everything you wanted to know about the Honda e!

7w ago

It's fair to say the Honda e may have generated more storm about EVs in the last year than we've seen since the Tesla Model S first appeared on the scene. It's plucky, almost 'cute' charm has won over even the toughest of EV critics, but it's far from perfect.

From the poor range to its extortionate price tag, there are a number of issues and questions surrounding the Honda e. Well, I have the 'e' on loan for two weeks courtesy of Honda UK, and in that time I aim to answer everyone's burning questions about the adorable little city car.

Your questions about the Honda e, answered

Launching a YouTube channel is a terrifying prospect, but this year, I've made the leap. Naturally, my first video had to feature the 'e', and answers a number of burning questions about the car and EV life in general.

However, I can imagine that many of you will have even more questions to ask. Therefore, I cordially invite you to ask your questions below, and I'll answer them to the best of my ability.

What do you want to know?

So, what do you want to know? You can ask anything about the Honda e, living with the car, or EV life - charging times, infrastructure, pricing, what do I think of EVs. Anything your heart desires - drop your questions in the comments, and I'll be sure to answer them to the best of my ability, so long as they're relevant!

Finally, a little self-promotion (sorry!)

If you enjoyed my video above, please consider liking/subscribing/commenting on the video. I know YouTubers ask it all the time, but as someone starting out in the industry, it would help boost my channel massively. Rest assured, there's plenty more content coming (in fact, there's a video uploading right now as I type this!)

  • It’s just too much money for a small car. How on earth are kids going to be able to afford small cars in the future at these prices.

    • True - though I'd argue very few kids buy their cars brand new... but then second-hand EVs is a whole different argument! Monthly prices aren't too bad, but even so... £29k before government grant is steep.

  • I’d pay maximum £18k for a Honda e not worth any more than that.

  • 'Worth?' No, not really. It's a really loveable little thing, but Honda has skimped on the battery with the specious argument that people rarely go further than the paltry mileage this little car is limited to. So what? This applies to ALL cars, but on those occasions you WANT to go a longer distance at least your old car could be counted upon to get you most of the way with a top up en route. I gather that worldwide sales have been distinctly lacklustre. I have no idea what Honda is trying to do beyond shooting themselves in the foot in full view of everyone.

    • I intend on using it on an urbanized island that’s a mere 725.7 km2 (280.2 sq mi), that range is perfectly capable. Horses for courses. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    • Heh, heh... I bet you'll buy one and then never settle until you've found the perfect urban island to use it on? If only we were all as single minded and logical as you. : )
