Mclaren. Once you hear this word all you can think of is the legendary company. The legendary racer, Bruce Mclaren, and what his company is leaving behind. Iconic, Mclaren has stepped up to be called that word, with the F1, the P1 and now this. The 765lt, based on its predecessor the 720S, making it one of the lightest and quickest machines out there right now. With upgrades that have changed the game already, with improved aerodynamic downforce, and a whopping 176 pounds lighter compared to the 720S. This could be or is the best supercar at this moment right now. But is it worth the hype?

With its name symbolizing the exhilarating 755bhp and the "LT" representing the "long tail" version. The name evolving from the 1997 McLaren F1 GT and has become a staple in the supercar and Mclaren world. Giving cars better aerodynamic stability, while improving performance. The successors to the 765lt include the, 675LT and also the ever so amazing 600LT.

Three years ago Mclaren came out with a bang, the 720s, now its time to let the new era shine. This car is capable of many things on the track. Its brutal force bringing more power, less weight and a more easier way to handle. The amount of grip on this car is insane. "Grip", you can be going at insane amount of speeds, but this car will stay put on the ground like its stuck to glue. And when the grip is preforming well, this car can do up to 205mph.

What makes this car so special? Well its 755bhp is something to not shy away from. Being powered by twin turbo V8. And let me tell you Mclarens aren't the best sounding, but this cars sound is absolutely riveting. Using the Senna's seat's for a more lighter and more compacted race experience. Now with a higher-capacity fuel pump, forged aluminum pistons, and a free-flowing quad tailpipe titanium exhaust system, its even lighter, and it preforms better as well. With the titanium removing about 8.3 pounds of weight! Yes, you heard it, 8.3 pounds less than its predecessor the 720s.

The stats are certainly promising too, with 590 lb-ft of torque this car can go naught to 60 in just 2.7 seconds. And it will charge from naught to 124 mph in just 7.2. The LT was expected to show a lot, it had very high expectations, and it has proved them all. It even exited higher then was expected. With the quarter mile covered in less than 10 seconds. With proper launch control and a passion to drive, this car can be quick, really quick.

The real question being asked here is, is this the best Mclaren ever? There is no doubt this is an amazing car, it is stunning from every angle, its stats are mesmerizing, the sound it makes is total ear porn. But does that make it enough?

You can argue that it doesn't have the passion or flare like the F1, you can argue that it doesn't have the brutality and ruthlessness of the P1. And I would agree with you. But I don't think Mclaren was trying to make the 765lt brutal and iconic. They wanted to take something already amazing and make it even better, performance wise and looks wise. They succeeded, its a good car, but its not that good. In my personal opinion I would choose the 720s over the 765lt any day.

That's why Mclaren has succeeded again, they've made a car exceeding all of our expectations once again. Showing that you don't need to have a brutal, big engined car to have fun. this car is a savage on the road and on the track. Making it practical and really fast, which is a huge selling point. And for less of the price, it shows how it is practically the same as the Senna, and its half the price as well. If that's not a win win then I don't know what else is. But performance wise, I don't think its better than the Senna..

This car is pretty good looking, but all above that, its practical. Its one of the best cars on the track to drive. It's a great car, but its not the best Mclaren ever made, it is still great though. And it can take the title, of one of, if not the best supercar at this moment right now. The question was answered, it is pretty overpriced, and its not the best Mclaren, but for now it will do.

  • It’s a lot of extra cash for 0.1s faster to 60. I’d understand if you spent all day every day at race tracks but 99.99% don’t.

    I’ll take a stock used 720s and a good remap for half the price.

  • Just like the fax machine that started the comeback for mclaren this too lacks the fizz for me. And i'm sorry, but it's far, very far actually, from being "stunning from every angle". McL are building brilliant machines and then sort of just stop caring. But that's probably a very subjective thing
