Is The Versa Still A Good Daily Driver?

I had the keys to this Nissan Versa for a week. Here are my thoughts.

The Nissan Versa has been around for quite some time now and has always been seen as one of those cars that are built solely just to get you from "Point A" to "Point B" and nothing more. Not only that, but it is supposed to be built and sold as an affordable compact money can buy to get the best fuel economy and have enough space for a small family. Or just a good enough car for a beginner driver. Either way, it has a purpose. But is it still a good daily driver? The kind that will get you from work to home or home to school? Lets find out.

Exterior Styling

"...aerodynamic as possible..."

The Nissan Versa is not the sharpest looking compact car on the market. But when compared to earlier models, it sure looks a heck of a lot better. It is sharper and has some more edges with curves. I suppose it is designed to be as aerodynamic as possible to get the best fuel economy. Sure, it is not a looker, but it isn't the ugliest car to buy. One last plus, it should be easy to find in a parking lot.

Interior Design

"...seems so small..."

The interior design of the Versa is dull when it comes to the lesser optioned models. The SV I had has a few more bells and whistles to give it some character, like the seats with the stitching and all. The space in the cabin is vast for something that seems so small on the outside. I can sit behind myself with next to no problems. Visibility all around is very good and the seats offer the support needed for long drives.

Pricing and Options

So, how much does this Versa cost? After all of the options and whatnot, the total price comes to $21,490. That does not seem like much. Especially with the options. For safety, this model has automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, rear automatic braking, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, rear view backup camera, advanced airbag system, tons of airbags, ABS, traction control, tire pressure monitoring, adaptive intelligent cruise control, and a vehicle dynamic control system. For comfort and convenience the Versa comes with heated front seats, power windows, external ground lighting, interior ambient lighting, Bluetooth capabilities with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, engine remote start, and voice recognition control. Considering the base model starts at $18,000, this is not bad at all.

Performance

"...isn't too shabby."

The 1.6L 4-cylinder under the hood of the Versa barely makes enough horsepower to overtake cars on the highway but the fuel economy isn't too shabby. I was able to achieve 34 miles per gallon with my driving habits. Ride comfort is not terrible in any way and road noise is minimal. The steering on the other hand is focused and offers plenty of feedback from the road. Long trips in the Versa are never troublesome or give any sort of discomfort.

A Moment Of Your Time. (No Pun Intended)

VINCERO Watches has partnered with North's Auto Reviews and I. Here are a couple watches to look at and help pass the time during this quarantine. Both are beautifully crafted. If not, you can scroll down to the conclusion.

Check out the Men's "Chrono S" watch by VINCERO. This one has a black face with an olive leather brand.

Conclusion

So, is the Versa still a good daily driver? In short , yes it is. The Versa is an ideal car to get from A to B offering plenty of cabin space for friends and family. Not only that, but the fuel economy and ride comfort is outstanding for a car to only get around in. Sure, the back up camera is sub-par and that the interior feels a bit cheap, but you get what you pay for. The only problem is the CVT transmission. Someone told me their Versa's CVT had to be replaced after a few years of driving. So, if someone were to buy one, I would recommend that they should probably trade it in whenever it seems necessary for an upgrade.
