Toyota has never made a proper hot Yaris. To make up for years of boring sensible beige Yaris's Toyota, decided to go all in and introduce their new GRMN Performance deivison with the hottest Yaris ever made. The Yaris GRMN is a limited edition track focused Toyota Yaris with a stating price of $36,000, so is it worth it?

The lucky team at Auto Express was able to spend some time behind the wheel of the Yaris GRMN on both the road and track. Before we get to Auto Express's video review, what makes the Yaris GRMN so special?

According to Toyota's GRMN division, which stands for Gazoo Racing Masters of the Nurburgring, the Yaris GRMN isn't just another hot hatchback, it's a thoroughbred racer for the street. The Yaris GRMN is limited to Europe only and GRMN plans to build only a couple hundred examples.

The Yaris GRMN benefits from a complete overhaul of all the mechanic bits. A new 210 horsepower supercharged 1.8-liter engine routes power through a 6-speed manual transmission and a Torsen Limited-Slip-Differential.

To cope with the new supercharged horsepower, GRMN spent a great deal of time tuning the Sachs dampers for the best possible on track performance. To complete the package and harness all this performance, four-piston front bakes were added.

Besides the upgraded drivetrain, the entire exterior of the Yaris was reworked for GRMN duity featuring a large center exhaust. In the interior, a GT-86 steering wheel was fitted along with bucket seats to hold drivers in place.

Put all of this together and you get one serious Toyota, but is it worth the price?

  • Definitely not worth it. It's going to be more expensive than the polo gti and Fiesta St which are also the best superminis

  • But Toyota isn't charging $36,000 for it, because it's a European car and so it isn't priced in dollars anywhere.

Asking Americans, which you are when you put a price in dollars, what they think of the price of a car in other markets is ridiculous because they don't have any way to compare it to the established prices in those markets.

What does it cost in Euros?
