  • Yes. Absolutely. I could have bought a Birch Silver DB5 back in the 1980s for AUD$25k. I also nearly bought a ‘73 Carrera RS for under $30k in the early 90s (which the current owner recently knocked back AUD$1.5m for). As far as cars I wish I’d kept. ‘79 Escort RS2000. Maybe ‘01 Prelude ATTS.

  • When my mum was growing up I’m the 70/80s her family all had classic fords like Cortinas Granada’s and Escorts but they all either scrapped them or sold them. Id hate to think how much some of them would be worth now.

  • My dad was looking at a used Acura ZDX when we were looking for a new car. That’s a crossover and it wasn’t particularly successful here in America. But they’re quite rare and unique vehicles in my mind. We ended up not buying it cos it wouldn’t be practical enough for long trips and we ended up getting another Honda Odyssey to replace our last one. At least the new van has a tv and more legroom.

  • When my dad was about to buy his first car, there was this purple MK2 Escort on his street that was being sold. The day he went with his dad, my grandad, to give him a bit of extra cash so he could afford it, it had sold. Then, in the early 90s, he wouldn't have predicted how much it would increase in value. For his first car my dad, instead of getting a purple MK2 Escort, got a maroon Citroen ZX.

  • Bought a 328i base (got a great deal). Wished I had spend more on a 335i M sport.
