Is this the best spec for the McLaren GT?
After much anticipation, McLaren has launched the all-new GT. This new car is a half-way house between the Sports Series and Super Series of cars. This means that the GT is built around a bespoke MonoCell II-T monocoque tub, allowing the GT to be a more 'relaxed' car, as it rivals the Aston Martin DB11 and Bentley Continental GT. You can read more about the GT in Ben Welham's article.
And with the GT being a new McLaren, there is a new configurator to go with it. So I'm going to run you through my ideal specification for the McLaren GT. I have gone for the Luxe trim which offers all the bells and whistles.
I've kept the exterior stylish and simple with Ludus Blue paint which is a MSO Defined paint. I feel that this goes with the flowing lines of the GT and is one of the better colours for the new car. To go with the Ludus Blue paint, I have chosen the optional 15-spoke forged alloy wheels, finished in gloss black. I've also chosen the carbon ceramic brakes, which have red brake callipers attached to them.
Exterior options, I have gone for the MSO Black Pack which adds black trim on areas such as the door mirror housing, rear diffuser and front spoiler. I've gone with more MSO stuff with the Electrochromic Panoramic roof which can change from clear to opaque at the touch of a button. To go with the fancy roof, I've added tinted windows. I'm also a sucker for a louder exhaust note so I've added the sports exhaust which is finished in Satin Black.
The interior is where you'd be spending most of your time if you end up buying the GT. I've gone for a duo-tone interior which is finished in Porcelain & Ink Blue, and I think it looks really good. The sills are finished in Ink Blue too, as are the seats. The carpet is Sandstone, as are the floor mats. The light colours continue with the luggage bay being finished in Porcelain, and the material is what McLaren calls Superfabric.
When it comes to options, the car comes with the Practicality and Premium packs as standard. I haven't gone for any visible carbon fibre for the interior and exterior as that defeats the point of the car.
