Is this the perfect car for an African safari?

The lack of a noisy engine definitely helped get us up close and personal with the animals

When you think safari vehicle, your mind probably wanders towards stuff like the Land Rover Defender or Toyota Land Cruiser. But seeing as the key to getting up close wildlife is silence and camouflage, surely a set of all-electric, all-wheel drive SUVs in full camouflage liveries would be perfect for some Zebra spotting?

Well, we ventured to the Kalahari Desert with a bunch of Audi e-trons to see how it would fair on the dusty, undulating terrain that's home to giraffes, zebras and the iconic springboks. Check out our vlog where we tested out the car's all-wheel drive, its chassis stiffness and its outright pace in a straight line:

  • I doubt you've considered visiting Maasai Mara National Park in Kenya with an Audi, that safari would definitely kill this car, trust me you're better of with a Landover Defender or Toyota Land Cruiser and even then the terrain is still quite taxing
