Is this tuned Opel Kadett the ultimate sleeper?

Watch the humble Kadett take on the big boys

It's quite funny seeing budget cars modified to deliver crazy amounts of power, but it's even more amusing when it's done to something quite old and fairly undesirable. In this instance, an old German hatchback, namely an Opel Kadett has been tuned and tweaked to produce and eye-watering 730 horsepower - lifting it firmly into supercar country.

So obviously, the owner has placed his little Opel up against some top dogs:

Beating an Audi RS6 Avant, the little German hatch then takes on a BMW M3 and an Audi R8 - losing to them marginally as it struggled for traction at the start of each race, and lost stability at high speed.

We must remember that these victories are embarrassingly-narrow for the supercar owners, who've spent a few more pennies on their cars than the Kadett owner has.

  • We've had that generation of Kadett as a family car. After two years it was so badly rusted below, that only one half-rusted bolt was keeping the chassis to the rest of the car. And I'm dead serious! Every single joint, weld, bolt was rusted away and was totally missing. If I have to choose between this rust bucket and Oliver, I'll take Oliver every day!

  • Looks like the modern ones are more stable than the Opel weaving left and right a bit :-D Thats still not a very slow Opel, with nice simple styling 👍
