Having owned a scooter since the age of 16, I have found a lot of people often make the common mistake of associating scooters with the Mod movement. Prior to this phase in scootering history you had the clubman era. Young men & women who chose to ride scooters as an affordable means of transport. It offered them the possibility of getting away for the weekend. Naturally clubs evolved and events where orgainised. The Isle of Man Scooter Week was the ultimate scooter event, a week of scooter sport and an opportunity for like-minded people to socialise.
The event was attending by thousands of participants from all over the world. Events ranged from sprinting, overnight trials of 250 miles and gymkhanas. Some of the best riders in the scootering world participated, ranging from the Ronald brothers, Nev Frost often described as the best all out rider in the history of scooter sport, Norrie Kerr & Ron Moss aka The White Tornado, named after his signature white racing leathers to name but a few.
