- Mustang GT

It’s loud, big, masculine and very American. So did I like it?

The Ford Mustang GT

The Ford Mustang GT is one of the worlds most iconic cars. Since the sixth generation came out in 2015 Ford have sold more than half a million of them! Whilst I haven’t had the chance to drive an original Mustang yet (awaiting offers cough, cough) I did still have my own preconceptions about this ride.

To me, the Mustang always seemed loud, big, very masculine looking and very American (Aussie’s will get my drift there). And it’s 100% all those things, but also more. The interior of the car feels premium (for a Ford) I was impressed with the leather finish and all the buttons and controls. Everything was easy to use, the technology was easy to use and the only thing that bugged me was a beeping alarm every time I opened the driver door – gahh who didn’t think that through!?

The motor is well, stupid big and powerful. But I certainly wouldn’t call it zippy (my all time favourite engine descriptive) the Mustang is a biiig car weighing over 1,700kgs so no wonder it takes a while to take off, but when it does – well it goes really fast! The team at House of Machina have also upgraded the exhaust with a ROUSH Quad Exhaust, which means it’s loud.

So it’s a loud, big, masculine looking car with American roots – and it all makes sense! It’s not going to be like the original and it’s certainly not the smoothest or most luxurious ride, but it’s lived up to my expectations of what a Mustang represents. What do you think of the new version?

  • If you think a Mustang is big and loud, you should see a Challenger!

  • My 6.4L Dodge Challenger eats these things, and drive nice also. Don’t get me wrong they are lightning quick and handle well. Just depends on your desired flavor. (I like mine better)

    • Haha fair call Tom, I totally appreciate the Dodges power, it’s just slightly too muscle car-y for my taste 🤣

    • I’m fifty now. I’ve had a lot of sports cars. I enjoy the change. Big comfy car.

  • It looks great and it's V8. And in this world, that's enough.

  • Mustang is always a good choice :)

  • Is it as good as the final SSV Commodore — the quintessential Aussie muscle car?

    • I’ve actually never driven the SSV, and if I say anything negative my life might well be in danger while I’m still in the country 🤣 plus I’m not a Holden fan, so my opinion would be biased either way!
