I've been Rolex window shopping in Florence

Hulk v Starbucks, what's your pick?

As you probably know, Rolex recently unveiled their new Submariner collection and let's face it, most people will look at the new models and think they look exactly the same as the old models. That's because they do, sort of, with one exception: the so-called 'Starbucks'.

The iconic Submariner 116610LV, colloquially known as the Hulk because of the green bezel+green dial combo, was replaced with a newer version with a green bezel+black dial combo. Some people had tentatively tried to use the 'Kermit' nickname but A, there's another Rolex that's sometimes called the Kermit and B, you know how the internet works, the Kermit name didn't really stick and most people are now calling it the Starbucks.

A couple of days ago I was walking around in Florence city centre and happened upon the Rolex AD. I have to say the new Starbucks looks rather nice but I'm not sure. Everybody loves the Hulk and so do I. The good news is I can't afford it either way so whether they decide to call it the Kermit or the Starbucks makes zero difference to me. All jokes aside, I'd like to know what you think.

  • Neither! 13 years with my Casio GW-5600J. It’s still going strong. Lol.

  • I am shocked they have subs on display. That’s very rare, even at an AD

  • Definitely prefer the Starbucks! Understated & elegant. You’re so lucky to be strolling through Florence; I can’t wait till Americans are able to visit again. In the meantime, have a chocolate for me at Ballerini 😢

  • Might as well get some Ferragamo’s while you’re there!
