I've covered the Tour Auto for Drivetribe
Ok, only the first two days, But it's enought to drown you under tons of photos.
The Tour Auto is a re-creation of the Tour de France automobile, a race through France which existed from 1899 until 1986. For legal reasons, involving bicycles, the name changed. The race was open to cars from 1951 to 1973 and to enter the re-creation you must have a model that took part in the original race. You end up with a wide list of cars, from the 2cv to the GT40 and almost everything in the middle.
The cars arrive in Paris on the Sunday and go under technical scrutiny on the Monday. For some years now it has taken place under the dome of the Grand Palais, were the Mondial de l'automobile used to be. They leave Paris in the very early morning of Tuesday and aim for the sea, one year on the mediterranean side, the other on the atlantic. This year it's Biarritz and for the first time they'll cross Brittany.
What to expect from the following days: For now I plan 3 things. Between 2 and 4 galleries for the Grand Palais and each day of the race and focus on specific cars and on the paddock life, where mechanics do their magic.
