I’ve finally watched Fast 9

And it’s s**t

Fast 9 is probably the worst movie I’ve ever seen, maybe not in absolute terms but it definitely is in relation to the budget, and, more importantly, considering the weight of the name it carries.

The plot, the ultra-exaggerated special effects, and just an overall anger-inducing level of bulls**t. The Fast Saga was best described by Screen Junkies in an interesting series on YouTube called ‘Honest Trailers’.

”The franchise that was good, then bad, then so bad it’s good has [now] reached its final form: so bad but they think if they admit it, you’ll think is good.”

On-screen characters often get very close to breaking the fourth wall to remind the audience how unrealistic everything is. It’s supposed to be funny, but it’s irritating.

I don’t mind the fact that the Fast franchise has long abandoned the street racing theme and is now essentially an action series where cars are just side characters, I do mind the fact that none of what I’ve seen makes even the slightest dollop of cinematic sense. It’s supposed to be entertaining but it’s not, it’s like a parody of itself.

I only spent €0.99 to watch it on Prime but I still feel robbed. Sorry for the rant, I’ll have a cup of tea now.

What do you think? Did you like Fast 9? Let me know in the comments below.

  • F&F 5 was the last good one, everyone after is crap and I suspect VD got a massive pay cheque to do it now he is in the twilight years of his movie career. Big cheque then why not, irrespective of whether it’s crap.

    • I agree as they all went a bit ‘mission impossible’

  • Slightly offtopic, but few nights ago, accidentally stumbling on the beginning of the movie Nightcrawler, with the Challenger as leading role. Apart from a truly deep and complex theme (today's obsession with info and morality of it), the car scenes and sound were realistic and great.

    • yup exactly!!

i watched Nightcrawler on Netflix a few weeks back(discovered it by accident) and it was an excellent film, the car chase on the last scene surprised me, because it's the type of movie where one doesn't expect that there will...

  • I think Fast 7 was the last good Fast movie 8 was okay but not great, Hobbs and Shaw had hardly any cars in it and Fast 9 made no sense, felt like it was slapped together with no actual thought in it. The plot could have been written by a five year old. Like why tf was Han working for the government?

  • I think that after the seventh part it was not necessary to continue the franchise. Greed ruins good projects.
