Do you have the kind of kids who are always begging you to "go faster" in your Mazda CX-9? Well, Jaguar's new F-Pace SVR probably has you covered, because full throttle in this thing on a public road will shut them up for months.
The latest product from Jaguar's version of AMG, Special Vehicle Operations, ditches the current car's 3.0L turbo V6 in favor of a 5.0L supercharged V8, which has to date found a home in numerous Jaguars. It bumps power up to 550 horses and 502 lb-ft of torque (which is actually a bit less than the previous V6, but we'll gloss over that).
It's also got a new, lighter exhaust system which should sound a bit louder too, and the increased power means the 0-60 sprint is now down to a blistering 4.1 seconds. Of course, you can only have it with an 8-speed ZF transmission, but aside from the PDK that's pretty much the best one in the world.
The interior is loaded with all sorts of tacky carbon fiber, because that's irresistible to sports car manufacturers these days despite looking cheap and plasticky, but it now has the much sportier SportShift gear selector that usually belongs in the F-Type instead of the standard rotary dial.
If you want one to scare your kids, for their own good, of course, it'll start at a shade under $80,000. But if you can afford that, you won't have to wait very long, as it'll reach US dealerships by this summer.
