The XK180 took styling cues from the 1950's D-Type and the later E-Type from the 60's which had taken many of its styling cues from the D-Type as well.
Styling which carried over to the XKR can be seen in the mesh grille, hood louvers and hood bulge, the flowing front fenders.
The XK 180 was built on a shortened XK8 platform. More similarities between the cars can be seen from this side view. Notice the BBS Paris wheels which were to later appear as an option for the XKR.

One of the things I liked at the time about this one was the use of the very '50s/'60s looking badge. So much nicer than the asymmetrical leaper they use now.
Is this the one from Die Another Day?
