If you know James, then you know he loves the prancing horse of Ferrari. He in fact owns his own 458 Speciale which he has shown us tribers many a time. You can read about it from James himself below, and I'll pop a video down there, too.

Well if you're like me and keep an eye out for everything James May related (yes, the days just flash by), you'll see that he's just been on his own Grand Tour. Completely separate from The Grand Tour, he took This Is Money's Ray Massey out in the new Ferrari special edition and the 458's distant relative, the 488 Pista, and headed for the track.

But, before the tyres of the Italian supercar touched the tarmac of Fiorano, they were coaxed along the winding roads of Northern Italy. According to the article, they stopped for a "well-earned coffee in a rather cool motor bike themed café, shooting the breeze about life and everything from Lego to Zeppelins, and getting ‘lost’ down some beautiful if diverting Italian country lanes when the sat-nav threw a bit off a wobbly and took us ‘off pista’."

Sounds like the perfect road trip to me, and that's before they finished at Fiorano to really put the Pista through its paces.

So James, can you comment on your chances of investing in Ferrari's latest?

  • It was the Ferrari test driver Raffaele De Simone who said that bit about driving it like a Ferrari to Ray, not James, If you read the article. The pics are Ferrari copyright.

  • He already wrote an article saying he was offered the chance to buy a Pista but declined as his 458 was the last one produced and as such is a special car - one that will no doubt rise in value as well.
