Jeremy Clarkson himself has told us not to believe the tripe being sprouted by outlets such as the Daily Mail regarding the cancellation of The Grand Tour after Season 3. But on looking back at their Twitter feeds for something to talk about tonight, I found something that went a bit mad on the interwebs about a year ago. But these days, it looks a bit suspicious.

Now, I believe Jeremy when he says The Grand Tour is not being cancelled after Season 3, but let's play devil's advocate for a minute.

James tweeted this a bit over a year ago stating that he wants to retire 40 years earlier than the Duke of Edinburgh. For those who don't know, that means at the age of 56, James May might consider hanging up the floral shirts for a life of Ferrari 458s and flute covers on YouTube.

James May turns 56 next January (I know, he doesn't look it whatsoever!.....) so could this be a cryptic clue for us weirdos to work out, or is this just a number picked out of thin air to make for a funny tweet?

Jeremy replied with "I am too," meaning that he would have retired two years ago if they're being serious, so let's obviously take it all with a pinch of salt!

However, with the theories that The Grand Tour isn't going to be renewed after Season 3... I can't be the only one slightly worrier. Right?

  • They make fun shows; why would they quit at such a young age? (Oh, how The People would suffer. No, seriously!)

  • James May will comment like that, possibly just to bait people into reading too much into it.

  • That means I need to make it to the LIVE audience of the Grand Tour this season! I was so close last fall.

  • Does this mean we need to save up and get him a pair of slippers a pipe and thermal pyjamas a Zimmer frame and motorised disabled scooter to get him around? Or has he already got those items put by?

  • you'd think with the diversity of labour saving devices a lot more people could retire early.
