Before I start here is the trailer for the movie in question.
As a 21 year old young man, I am a bit different. A don't go partying or anything like that, I like the quiet life. So when I walked into my house on a freezing Wednesday night, having just walked my dog and my partner say's to me "I've found a film for us to watch"; I was rather pleased.
Knowing I liked motoring films she also told me not to watch the trailer or anything, to go into the experience blind.
I have to admit, after watching Locke, initially I was not happy at all.
The Story - without spoilers (well, not many)
Be advised, this is a film about a family/career driven man driving a BMW X5 from Birmingham to London. Here is the IMDB synopsis for the film: Ivan Locke, a dedicated family man and successful construction manager, receives a phone call on the eve of the biggest challenge of his career that sets in motion a series of events that threaten his carefully cultivated existence.

Again, I have got to say my initial reaction to this film was nothing more than a simple sentence "Somehow I have managed to waste 85 minutes watching a man driving…"
I even took to the DT chats to rant, but It was at this point where DT guru Patricia Pedrosa made me see the light.
After speaking to Pat, googling the movie and feeling a little silly for judging the movie at face value, I was astonished.
Six nights, three cameras rolling and finished product in ONE SINGLE TAKE!!!
Ask yourself, how good do you have to be to keep an audience engaged in a film without leaving a car seat…? Exactly. Even though I wasn't fond of the film to begin with I still wanted to know what happened, which I suppose means I was emotionally committed to the characters.
The fact that I nearly wrote this film off at face value also inspired me to start a new series of articles alongside my Cars and Their Stars series. I'm calling it JamesRates.
For the skill involved and admittedly fairly gripping storyline Locke gets 3 stars. Not amazing but very good and well worth a watch.

I don't know who she is, but that Patricia Pedrosa definitely deserves 5 stars.

I haven't watched it completely, but Tom Hardy does some of the finest acting ever in the bits I saw. Cool article idea.
Thanks Brian, i appreciate that :) Tom Hardy has to be one of my favourite actors ever! (Totally not car related but did you see him in the tv series 'Taboo'?)
No, I'll give it a look.
