For all you classic Mad Max fans out there, sadly I am not talking the original. I am in fact talking about the 2015 reboot staring Tom Hardy. Tom seems to be somewhat of a theme In my latest articles...
The world has become a dust bowl, most of the people around you have become savage killers and every now and then you get kidnapped and used as a human ‘bloodbag'. As you can imagine this might send the average human a little crazy, hence the name Mad Max.
Watching this film you have to go into knowing that, regardless of when you last washed; you WILL walk away from this movie feeling grubby.
Those who have seen this will know exactly what I mean.
So, here is what IMDB will tell you to try and get you to watch this movie.
'A woman rebels against a tyrannical ruler in postapocalyptic Australia in search for her home-land with the help of a group of female prisoners, a psychotic worshipper, and a drifter named Max'.

Set in what can only be described as the worlds bottom, there are three sought after items. Blood, Babies and Water.
The first time we see Max we see a free man looking over the desolate wasteland contemplating his next move. This sense of freedom is short lived though as we start to hear the sounds of engines thundering towards our location. “Well, these could be Max’s friends..?” Was my initial thought, but by the way the way Max jumps into his scavenged Ford Falcon 1973 V8 Interceptor and speeds away; I think not.

Shortly after the film begins our mad hero is captured, strapped to the front grill of a car, slowly feeding his own blood into a strange powdery fanatic, heading into what can only be described as the mother of all sandstorms.

From what I could gather amongst all of the action, there are lots of ‘clans’ dotted around, all of which use each other for different things. The main man however is a guy called Immortal Joe and he is quite the villain.
The Villain checklist:
Wears a funky outfit. Yup, funky is the right word...
Feared by all? I think it's his hair and makeup that does it for me...
Called ‘Daddy’ by most...
Has locked room containing the ladies he impregnates over and over again to ensure a specific breed of baby...

All of his hundreds of “children” look to be covered in flour. The young ones are virtually slaves, the older consider themselves warriors. Desperate for daddy’s attention they will do anything to forfill their destiny. This consists of spraying themselves in the face with silver paint, killing as many people as they can and dying in the most spectacular way possible.
The Conclusion
There is a lot to this movie so don’t take anyone else’s opinion before you watch it. Personally I really really like this film. I think it’s dirty, gritty and one of the most visually spectacular films I have ever seen.
However I feel that it's one of those films that you could either love and watch it a hundred times (Like me) OR you could absolutely hate it and switch it off half way through.
It's also worth mentioning that I probably haven't really done this film any favours, there are a lot of things that I haven't mentioned!!
As with anything it’s virtually impossible to be perfect. The only criticism I have is that a couple things in the movie that aren't really relevant to the story; could have been developed a bit more to give us a better understanding of Max and where he came from. Never the less, have a look at the trailer below and then go and watch it to see what you think of all of this madness!
I think a fair score for the 2015 Mad Max movie is 4 stars.
