Jay Leno Drives His 1996 Dodge Viper GTS In His New YouTube Video
Jay shows off his 25 year old 1996 Dodge Viper GTS, a stunning color, and a interesting story along with it - Jay Leno's Garage
A car inspired by Carroll Shelby and Peter Brock, a sports car that was developed and transformed into something better than the original Dodge Viper. 25 years ago one of the most famous specs of the Dodge Viper GTS was bought and customized by our favorite late night host and petrol head. Bob Lutz cleaned and fixed the whole company up, setting out to create something new and fresh. Building a strong team, with strong members, while also leaving a huge mark on the company. Chrysler has never been so cool, as Bob was the director of marketing and someone working very close to Lee Iacocca, this was a huge innovated idea that became into a US history car in the making.
This 415bhp, 8.0 Litre V10 torque beast was a stunning car, and recently Jay Leno has shared with us his 25 year old 1996 Dodge Viper GTS. And year by year it just keeps getting better and better. People explained their concern that the original Viper and the RT/10 Roadster lacked practically and that there was no "luxuries". Not only did this car bring more comfort, but it brought something no one asked for either, even better presentation. All those problems and issues were solved in the gorgeous GTS Coupe.

The GTS included windows, a full-length exhaust, air-condition to keep you cool in the summer heat and guess what the best part is? it came with 50 more horsepower, compared to the RT/10 Roadster. They are supposed to look very similar in looks, but trust me the GTS and the Roadster are far from similar. The performance was enhanced and it was suited to preform better for the clients and buyers. Improved, comfortably while making and keeping the car better performance and hands on wise. Made to be superior aerodynamically and to make it very sharp and smooth in the corners as well. And Jay has explained how he loves the simple the clean looks, its such a clean stunning car. No super technology, no over the top design's needed. it is simple, and classy, but ruthless at the same time.
It is a completely different car from Jay's RT/10 Roadster, much better in some peoples opinions, because it features more useful upgrades and again, better performance. Jay explained in his new video that it was not hard or even difficult to make him skeptical about a new American sports car coming out. Jay was convinced easily, and he also wanted his new GTS done in the "Daytona Coupe" colors, let me tell you Jay has a great eye for cars and for colors. He even rode on down to Chrysler's Conner Avenue Assembly to see his GTS built while also being signed by the team working on it. Imagine, well Jay cant imagine, since he is living all of our car dreams!
A memorizing 6-speed manual, 488 lb-ft of torque monster! With a stunning blue and white coat to top it all off. Jay has showed us again his beautiful taste and collection of cars, and this 1996 Dodge Viper GTS just keeps getting better and better the more we stare at it.
