Jeep celebrates milestone with a special edition range!
And they are actually very tasteful!
Jeep hasn't gone through the best of times recently. Dragged down by the dying giant that was Chrysler, Fiat quickly bought the company, at which point Americans started saying 'How dare they? It's not a proper American brand now!'. The point that it wouldn't be a brand full stop if it hadn't been bought seems to allude them.
But despite a rocky recent history, we are coming up to a milestone in a few months. Jeep is celebrating 80 years as a car brand. In contrast, rivals like Land Rover (Only 50 years old) are a lot younger. So, it's time for a special edition!
The Renegade, Compass, Cherokee, Grand Cherokee, Wrangler and Gladiator all get this, with prices between $26 and $42k. Each model comes standard with an 8.4 inch touchscreen, Granite Crystal paint, logos stitched into the upholstery and a smattering of exterior badges.
They also come with full panoramic sunroofs and 19inch alloys as standard, and the Wrangler gains a black three piece hardtop roof that can be removed for full exposure to the elements!
The tasteful paint colour and grey and black accents, combined with good pricing and rugged looks means this seems to be the pick of the specs. But if any college students get one of these in white, I think the meaning of the badge may be lost!
