Jenson Button set for British GT debut
The Formula 1 champion lines up aside team co-owner and long-time friend, Chris Buncombe for the Silverstone finale.
It was announced this morning that Jenson Button will be driving the Jenson Team Rocket RJN McLaren 720s GT3 for the final round of the British GT championship at Silverstone, on November 7-8.
Button co-owns Team Rocket, along with RJN boss Rob Neville, and his driving partner for the event, Chris Buncombe. The pair are set to join 'World's Fastest Gamer' James Baldwin and his teammate Michael O'Brien as a second Team Rocket car on the grid.
The Super GT champion hasn't raced at a UK circuit since the 2018's World Endurance Championship round at Silverstone, in which the SMP Racing LMP1 car suffered an engine failure just 23 laps in, and before Button had even taken the driver's seat.
"It's great to come back and race on UK soil again. It's a shame that this event will be without the fans but I hope they will tune in," said Button. "This will be my first taste of a GT3 car, but I'm really looking forward to it."
