Jeremy Clarkson's Favorite Car Being Tested As a New Police Car
Which one will win; the BMW or the Volvo?
British police chase videos have long been a topic of shame and amusement for Jeremy and the boys, and most of that is due to the sad vehicles used by the police. But what if that can change? What if a new police car was given the sign of approval by Jeremy Clarkson?
It appears that the police are now testing out candidates for new fast patrol cars. As you can see from the picture above, the contenders are a BMW 530 xDrive and a Volvo V90. Both are estate cars, and both have been adorned with the police livery.
Humberside Police specialist police driver John Gorton tweeted out the following:
According to Gorton, the two are actually pretty evenly matched:
"Can’t say ‘better’, too different characteristics. If ‘fastest’ then BMW.... If ‘quickest’ planted, pursuit vehicle then ... V90.”
Another driver said:
"Driven both of them. Volvo great car for fast roads motorways and duals, but not so good for street work. BMW is a good all-rounder.”
In a recent Sunday Times column, Jeremy gushed about the BMW 530 xDrive, calling it best car in the world:
"It’s fast, handsome, astoundingly economical, very comfortable, reliable and genuinely good fun to drive. And now there’s a new version that is supposedly better in every way.
Until there is a breakthrough in what we drive and who drives it and what powers it and what controls it, this is as good as it gets. It’s 130 years of development brought together in a package that’s as faultless as current technology permits.”
