JOB ALERT: Be part of DriveTribe Australia
We're looking for writers in Australia to join us at DriveTribe
DriveTribe is looking to expand its coverage of Australian-focused topics, with the launch of a new DriveTribe Australia Tribe.
We're looking to hire two Australia-based contributors on a freelance basis, with the potential for full time roles in the future.
ROLE: WRITER (X2)
We're looking for two Oz-based freelance writers to join our team.
The ideal person: You have experience writing or blogging about the Australian automotive industry, and Aussie car culture. You know your muscle cars, drag, imports, motorsport, modding and JDM inside-out.
You can cover news, spot a great YouTube video, you know exactly what the major topics of discussion are each week, and you're always coming up with new ideas for features, quizzes and lists.
You have at least 16 hours per week free to work for DriveTribe, and can work efficiently from home.
You also need to be comfortable communicating mainly via email and video call with a UK-based team on a different time zone (so calls in the evening may sometimes - though not often - be a necessity).
What the role entails: At DriveTribe we have most bases covered when it comes to automotive and motorsport. But most of our writers are based in the UK, and we want to provide authentic coverage of car culture Down Under.
Do you have your ear to the ground when it comes to meets, races and car shows? Do you know a viral story when you see one? Can you write a persuasive feature that'll make 50% of people laugh and 50% of people hate your guts?
We're looking for somebody who can do all of the above. Able to source great videos and write brilliant features on the slow new days, and able to drop what they're working on and cover the latest news as and when it breaks.
In return, we offer a competitive freelance day rate.
How to apply:
If this sounds like you, send a cover letter detailing your reasons for applying, and your suitability for the role to richard.beech@drivetribe.com
Please attach a CV, and links to examples of your work.

incase you haven't seen this already!
Gimme 24 hours and you'll have my application. I'm a media student in Perth, Western Australia, (very dissimilar to the one in FREEDO-.... I mean Scotland.) Love my cars, and used to have a YouTube series called Mini Top Gear as a kid, all about RC cars. Looking for casual work anyway, so I'm dead set into this! I'm English too, so I can offer translations from what the Oz motorists are saying into standard English that can roughly be understood around the globe!
Darn, I live in Australia and I can read blogs... just can't write em...
Great. I just got used to British English, now Aussie English! Can't you guys write normal (Canadian) English?
I think we can just aboot manage that
Canadian English is easy. Just use "aboot" for about and you've nailed it. Hope you find a suitable candidate. I can inform my Aussie network of connections.
Just sent my application in yesterday. Let me know if you haven't got it!
