Karthikeyan, Balu involved with MF and Apex for new circuit in Coimbatore
Another circuit had its foundation stone set in India.
A second track in Coimbatore - the CoASTT High Performance Centre - has had its foundation stone laid, as it is being jointly worked upon by Coimbatore Auto Sports and Transport Trust and Mumbai Falcons team, with involvement of Narain Karthikeyan and Arjun Balu too.
The new track is roughly 30 minutes from the airport and being worked upon under the FIA Grade 2 certification which allows it to host races unptil the F2 category. The circuit is about 4km long and features 14 corners and is being developed by Apex Circuit Design Limited.
They are also working on a kart track in the complex which can host World Championship races with CIK Grade 1 certification. These two tracks comes under the first phase of their work with more developments to come in the second phase which will be revealed later.
Armaan Ebrahim and Aditya Patel's Racing Promotions Private Limited has been entrusted with the accreditation work where they will liaise between the FIA and FMSCI for all the certification and official work as this become the fourth new Indian circuit announced in the last year or so.
"I’m certain that having access to the facilities at the CoASTT High Performance Centre will produce the next set of world class motorsport engineers and racing drivers, as well as more efficient automotive technologies and safer drivers for our Indian roads," said Karthikeyan. "This is only the start, as MFRL has other such facilities across India on the horizon in the very near future.”
