Keep your Singer, I'll take a Gunther Werks Speedster
Seeing the new GW Speedster in person was like staring into the eye of God.
It's low. It's wide. It's air-cooled. It's bespoke. It is, of course, the Gunther Werks Speedster, which you probably remember from a couple weeks ago when it was unveiled at Pebble Beach. While all that buzz the car generated was still circulating the Internet, Gunther Werks was busy getting the car ready for it's next tour stop: Indianapolis for Luft 7.
Jeff Zwert, the show's curator, assigned the Speedster a parking spot front and center. The show's centerpiece Pirelli mural, painted by Brian Kesling (@wbriankesling) served as the backdrop. The "Peninsula Cypan" green paint dressing up the carbon fibre body panels has got to be the most beautiful shade of green I have ever laid my eyes on. It was so difficult to get my camera settings right to do the color justice. It was almost like the car was shinier in the shade and kept playing tricks on my camera lens and my brain.
I think I went a little overboard with the editing there...
I think I remember counting four Singers at the show, and honestly none of them compared to this thing. The Guther Werks Brooklyn Commission was also present, and even that blew the Singers away in my opinion. If I could spec my Speedster with a Singer interior though, we'd reach automotive nirvana.
