Kentucky Bourbon suggestions?
Looking for a bottle to get my wife for Christmas and am open to suggestions. Something under 300 preferably.

  • For our last anniversary we did a bottle of "Little Book #2" by Bookers and it was just under $200. IIRC they do a limited run of a batch every year, almost as an experiment/ training for their new master distiller. It was very special and I really enjoyed it. www.littlebookwhiskey.com/

    • It is good stuff, but high alcohol and can be polarizing. Guessing they're on 3 or 4 at this point. You can look up the composition online but, for example, ours was part 40 year old corn whiskey, which was odd.

  • We rarely dip into ones over $100, so these may be too pedestrian for you: Stranahan's Colorado Whiskey - I prefer the Diamond Peak; if she likes sweeter ones Breckenridge has rum and port cask finished bourbons.

  • You can also try a r(h)um with a bourbon cask finish if you want something original.

    • Rhum agricole (and similar products like clairin) are made from pure cane juice and are less sweet than molasses ron/rum (which are the most common type), it's at least as much different as a rhye bourbon is to a malt scotch.
