With the 1989 Pepsi-liveried Suzuki RGV500, Kevin Schwantz had ridden one of his best seasons results, where he finished either first or second in every race he completed. Sadly, it was the crashes that prevented him from taking the world championship title that year, instead taking six win and three runner-up finishes. Schwantz eventually got his world championship title in 1993 with Suzuki.

Schwantz's 1989 Suzuki RGV500 in its iconic Pepsi livery is going to be fully-restored and presented at this year's Motorcycle Live. The motorcycle event is set to take place from 18-26 November at the NEC in Birmingham and will be a part of Suzuki's official presence at the event. The GP motorcycle will be completely stripped off to begin the restoration undertaken by Team Classic Suzuki chief mechanic Nathan Colombi with support from Suzuki’s Vintage Parts Programme

  • Wow! 1989. wasn't about racing... it was pure magic! RGV and KS34, the best match ever made. Not for Kevin's bones, but for us fans...
