KIA OPTIMA SPORTSWAGON: 5TH REPORT FROM THE DRIVETRIBE GARAGE
14,000 miles in, and our Kia has earned itself some new front tyres
For the first time in six months I actually had to spend some money on the Kia because - after 14k miles - the front two tyres were definitely in need of changing.
I thought it best to get some Michelin Pilot Sport 3s, and after advice from a Mr. Jethro Bovingdon I headed down to Northampton Tyres, where the extremely helpful staff fitted me brand new Sport 3s for £294.
"Have you been off-roading in these?" the mechanic asked me as he pulled off the front left wheel, and clumps of mud fell all over the floor. At first I was quite proud of my front wheel drive off-roading, until he informed me that a build-up of mud on the inside of the wheel can over-balance the tracking of the vehicle, and therefore I should be cleaning under the arches more often than I have been.
With that in mind, I was straight off to the jet wash. And off-road again! The team at Northampton Tyres were incredibly helpful, and I cannot recommend them enough.
Let's hope the new tyres last a little longer than the last ones.
I nearly took a star off for its tyre-eating, but the mud could've been to blame

I'm so jealous. We don't get an Optima wagon over here, in the 'States.
Why??? This car is not sporty. It's slow and handles poorly. I don't understand why the Europeans love it.
That may be, but, it's not too half-bad looking.
