King of Kings set to go out with a bang
Harley-Davidson's annual dealer custom build-off competition is set to come to an end as 15 bikes from 12 countries lock horns, with Adelaide Harley-Davidson Bike Works and Gold Coast Harley-Davidson representing Australia and New Zealand.
Billed as the final battle to crown an epic King of Kings, the custom bike competition showcases the very best in customisation capability and the creativity of the Custom Kings who can be found at every Harley-Davidson dealership globally.
In 2019 the Custom King crown was taken by Laidlaw's Harley-Davidson with their stunning Sport Glide-based build "FXGTS Coast Glide". But for the final shoot out, it's the Sportster that will play the starring role.
Since 1957, the Harley-Davidson Sportster has served as the perfect blank canvas for more custom bikes than any other. Now Harley-Davidson is using it as the basis for the final fight of the epic Battle of the Kings contests from across the Globe.
With its classic lines, characterful Evolution V-Twin motor and a huge selection of genuine parts and accessories able to be incorporated into the build, the challengers will be trying to build the perfect bobber, café racer, tracker or chopper.
The Adelaide Harley-Davidson Bike Works entry
To further inspire competition among the dealers, previous competition rules surrounding budget and parts have been lifted. The King of the Kings competition will be contested by a single round of Global online voting.
"The Battle of the Kings has been an incredible showcase for the customisation DNA that is at the core of our brand," Harley Davidson's Jon Bekefy said.
"It inspires our dealers to show just what is possible but also inspires customers globally that they can have a truly unique motorcycle – whatever the scale of their budget," he added.
"After years of fantastic competition, we can't wait to see what the previous winners from all over the globe will build this year!"
