Knackered Suspension Siku Opel Rekord Caravan

Who knew bobsled transport could be so rough on the shocks.

Siku really produced some pretty awesome gems. This Opel Rekord Caravan is no exception. It has clear plastic headlights, a roof rack, opening doors/hatch and a fantastic little bobsled that clips to the rack. Take that HotWheels premium! This playworn example is in pretty good shape. Unfortunately, the suspension is toast. After close inspection, I can see the suspension bits are clear, so it's probably made from the same brittle plastic that does not hold up well under abuse. But, when angled just right, this car still makes for some fantastic photos. A welcome addition to my collection.

  • great find! I love the details, can't get that without a mortgage these days. Now I need one...

Do you plan on "altering" it in anyway?

    EDIT: extra points for knackered...

    • Thanks! I really appreciate it in it's current state. Despite the suspension it displays well :) No plans to change it yet, while tempting. I have other cars on my workbench that need work.

  • Rip it out and use the metal-strip solution that Tomica uses. Reckon that'll give its functionality back easily.

    • And give it Tomica wheels and paint it goldenrod metallic

    • Sooooo tempting. I always feel bad if I drill out the rivet on an old/rare diecast though. I might!
