Koenigsegg to Debut All New 'Gemera' at Salon Prive
Koenigsegg are no strangers to pushing the boundaries of what cars can do - but the Gemera might be their craziest model yet.
Salon Prive is already set to be the go to motoring event of the year, but Koenigsegg have just well and truly dangled the carrot. We know they can make a fast car, they've done it time and time again from way back when with the CCX all the way up to the Regera and One:1. This year though, they're switching up the formula.
Pin back your ears, you'll want to hear this.
The brief they set was simple. Make a four seat car and make it the fastest there has ever been, without compromising on cabin space. The fruit of their efforts is a 2.0 litre, three cylinder hybrid. Yes you heard that correctly, gone are the V8's of old and ushered in is the future. Fear not though as that engine is supplemented by three electric motors, that combine to give the Gemera 1700hp and 3400NM of torque. That's a 1700 horsepower car - with rear isofix points. The Swedes really have gone mad.
Like its sister car the Regera it uses the signature single gear Koenigsegg Direct Drive transmission, which when mated to the Gemera's ultra clever powertrain allows for some seriously impressive efficiency. On batteries alone the car is good for 50km - nothing special there. In hybrid mode on the motorway though, the car has a 1000km range. So that's a car with four seats, 1700hp and will do 1000km on a single tank. Oh and did I mention it'll hit 60 in 1.9 seconds? Yeah there's that too.
This incredible machine will be making it's UK debut at this years Salon Prive, joining the likes of Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren and Bugatti. Set to be the biggest motoring event of the year, Salon is now a must attend for anyone interested in exotic and classic cars. More information and my full rundown of the event can be found here.
CEO and general madman Christian von Koenigsegg had this to say on it's launch:
I can't wait to get a look around this car in the metal (and carbon fibre). If you're as in awe as I am, you can book tickets for Salon Prive by clicking here.
