Kush Maini moves to Formula Renault Eurocup for 2019 season with M2 Competition
New Formula Renault Eurocup outfit, New Zealand-based M2 Competition will field Kush Maini in its debut year in the competition in 2019, it has been announced.
Maini moves from the BRDC British Formula 3 Championship to race in the Eurocup series which will take place at 10 Formula 1 circuits (both present and past), including being a support event in 2019 Monaco Grand Prix.
Ever since moving to single-seater racing - apart from racing in Indian races - Maini has competed in Italian F4 for two seasons after which he moved to British F3 last year, where he finished third in the drivers' standings with race wins and podiums.
He now steps up to the Eurocup level which will use a brand new car with improved aerodynamics, a 270-horsepower 1.8l turbo engine derived from the Renault Megane R.S, which will be a good step for drivers wanting to move to the FIA Formula 3 Championship.
As mentioned earlier, Maini will race for M2 Competition which has been a front-running team in the New Zealand-based winter championship - the Toyota Racing Series. Having raced in the series for so long, the team is taking a step up internationally now.
Apart from Maini, Victor Martins has been confirmed with MP Motorsport and R-ace GP has named Oscar Piastri as one of its drivers. The new car was recently tested by the 2018 champion and Renault academy driver Max Fewtrell in Spain.
