Ladies and gentlemen, here is the Chevrolet eCOPO Camaro Concept.

It's blue and it shows 700 hp under the hood

To mark the anniversary of the 1969 Camaro Copo, Chevrolet designed, in its purest tradition, the eCOPO Camaro. This vehicle is currently presented at SEMA Show 2018.

This vehicle cut for drag race has the distinction of being entirely electric. In fact, to manufacture it, Chevrolet has hired the services of an electric racing specialist, the Hancock and Lane Racing team.

The eCOPO Camaro Concept is powered by two electric motors delivering a combined power greater than 700 hp and a torque exceeding 800 Nm. It has a battery of 800 volts (twice the voltage of a bolt) composed of four different modules . This one, which weighs more than 300 kilos in total, is recharging quickly, important for a car driven to chase the runs in the future.

Chevrolet estimates the eCOPO Camaro swallows the quarter-mile - about 400 meters - in just nine seconds. The manufacturer does not give other figures, and forgets to mention the autonomy, which is very detrimental, because in this segment of vehicles, autonomy is one of the keys to the success of this kind of vehicles.

With this concept, Chevrolet is trying to show that racing cars or customs can also be electric in the more or less distant future.

"We're not there yet, but it's a track we're exploring," said Russ O'Blenes, General Motors' Director of Motorsport.

  • Looks mean, but being an American muscle car should always be about the noise, the V8 grunt !

    • Agree. They should now put the biggest subwoofers to compensate for it. West Coast Customs style
