Lamborghini are reportedly working on a new hypercar. Codenamed 'LB48H', the new Lambo is said to be a hybrid powertrain, partly using the V12 engine found in the Aventador and will cost somewhere in the region of $2.5 million. The new Lamborghini will apparently have approximately 838BHP and just 63 will be built.

Lamborghini CEO, Stefano Domenicali confirmed the company was working on the car

Lamborghini boss, Stefano Domenicali confirmed that they are working on a new project that will be even more aggressive than the Aventador Superveloce Jota (SVJ), and will be in the same vein as the limited run Veneno and Centenario editions.

The car is expected to rival the McLaren Senna and Aston Martin Valkyrie, with it's hybrid power making up for the lack of turbocharger. Domenicali also stated how important Nurburgring lap times were to Lamborghini, having set a new record with the SVJ. He did however state that Lamborghini's cars must be able to maintain a high level of performance lap after lap.

  • Look at that stance, yo! But 838hp from a hybrid V12? That's just not hypercar territory, if you ask me. Maybe they meant the V12 petrol engine will produce 838 and there will be an additional 200+hp from the electric motor? Lambo have nailed down the aero advantage with the Performante and SVJ, but if they want to compete with the Valkyrie and the upcoming Merc One, sub 900hp won't cut it. Hmmm....

  • Alot of these hyper cars are coming to light now. I really wonder if it is to do with the new world endurance championship top tier cars becoming a hyper car category. They launched a artists impression of what the cars might look like and there is one thing in common on the hyper cars being launched and that is most have a similar designed cockpit. 🤔
