Lamborghini envisages British hypercar killer
Stefano Domenicali, boss of Lamborghini has confirmed that the company, is considering on a rival for the Aston Martin Valkyrie and the McLaren Senna. They are taking on the British! Well, come on then!
This would likely be another 'extreme aero', limited-series production car. The Lamborghini would be “in the same vein of Centenario and Veneno” but something uniquely stunning. Extremely rare and exotic, this god killer they propose this car isn't just a 'one lap' race car - Domenicali wants to create something that “must be able to maintain a high level of performance lap after lap”.
The car could offer an exponentially aggressive version of the aerodynamic package, found on the new Aventador Superveloce Jota, which I thought was pretty gnarly already. Sticking with their guns, the engine would most likely be naturally aspirate but could use a hybrid system to make up that lost power created by turbochargers. Not much has be clarified yet.
There isn't much information on the price either. It's possible that the Lamborghini's price range could sit between the Senna's reasonable £750,000 or the Valkyrie's heart-stopping price of £2.5 million.
But what is more important to Domenicali, is one race course in particular. The Nürburgring. Clearly, Lamborghini takes their lap times seriously, especially just a few weeks ago, the Aventador SVJ set the new lap record, for the fastest production car at the track.
Pictures! We want pictures! I can't wait to see what Lamborghini have in store for us.
