Before Lamborghini’s hybridised Aventador and Huracan replacements are with us, they will be unveiling a limited edition hybrid hypercar. It’ll be the first production car they’ve made with electrical assistance, and it will set the blueprint for what’s to follow for the raging bull. Codenamed the LB48H, Lamborghini has been dropping hints at its existence since as far back as September 2017. And now, it appears it’s nearly ready for production.

A couple of weeks ago, the LB48H was shown in all its glory at a private event in Italy. Despite only 63 examples rumoured for production, it’s said that around 200 of Lamborghini’s most esteemed clientele were in attendance. While the name of the car is yet to be known, its aesthetics are said to be inspired by the Terzo Millennio concept.

If you ask me, that’ll make it one of - if not the - maddest looking Lamborghini of all time. And due to the fact that Lamborghini is retaining normally aspirated engines to be used with their hybrid system - with the new hypercar getting a version of the current 6.5L V12 - it should come with a suitably nutty soundtrack.

With the LB48H set for release in the middle of 2019, it’s thought that Lamborghini will also showcase the car to audiences in New York and Tokyo prior to the public getting their eyes on it. When it eventually goes on sale, it’ll cost around $2.5million! I’ll have to check with my accountant, but I do believe it’s just a little out of my price range (!)

But now I want to ask you guys: are you excited by the coming of Lamborghini’s first hybrid hypercar? Let me know in the comments.
