Lamborghini was in financial trouble, so the M1’s build was postponed until the firm eventually went bankrupt, leaving BMW to cancel the contract with them. When the M1 debuted, the series it was supposed to race in dissolved, leaving a new racing series, called Procar to be formed. The Procar series was plagued by engine issues and mixed reviews and went under. Soon, the M1 would be shut down with just over 400 built. They are now sought after by collectors bearing with him a hefty price tag.
