Lamborghini's V12 Vision Gran Turismo is even more sci-fi than the Cybertruck
It's never going to be real, but who cares when it's simply sublime?
Car fans would have played Gran Turismo at least once in their lifetime, or if not, at least heard of it. Gran Turismo had not only featured real-life vehicles, but also concept GT vehicles from real marques such as Jaguar, Bugatti, Hyundai, and AMG. At the 2019 World Finals of the FIA Certified Gran Turismo Championship in Monte Carlo, Lamborghini revealed the V12 Vision Gran Turismo, and it’s simply jaw-dropping.
The car is powered by a hybridized V12, which is also featured in Lamborghini’s latest hypercar, the Sian FKP 37. The car only weighs 891kg according to Lamborghini and has a one to one power to weight ratio, meaning that the car will produce about 1,220hp. And that’s already 400hp more than the Sian! However, it is the car’s design that makes it even crazier than the already extreme Sian.
The V12 Vision GT was built as a single-seater. Lamborghini’s head of design, Mitja Borkert stated, “We were saying, okay, it’s a racing game so let’s do a monoposto.” The single-seat layout gives the driver feel like a jet-fighter pilot; of course with total control of the car. Oh, did I mention that the car does not have doors but the entire front section opens like a fighter jet too?

The cockpit is even more futuristic, with a holographic display that will be in production in the next ten years. The steering wheel carries the design of F1 and LMP1 car steering wheels with huge paddleshifts and the hologram projector. The hologram will not only provide basic information but also intelligent, context-sensitive advice. I guess the days of grumpy old race coaches are over?
The overall design still carries the spirit of Marcello Gandini’s lines while incorporating modern Lamborghini design cues such as the Y shaped headlamps seen in the Sian or the sharp edges seen in the Veneno. Still, the project is yet to be finished, and the car will be available for driving in Gran Turismo by next spring. Of course, that’s enough time for Lamborghini to bring a better name than the ‘V12 Vision GT’…

At the end of the day…
Now, I’ll keep it short. So nevermind the Cybertruck, this Lambo Vision GT is the sci-fi thing for the bedroom posters of growing boys. Well done, Lambo. Well done.
