Lancia Delta : a few considerations and a couple of videos.
After my last post about Lancia I had to pay tribute to the Delta.
After the bit of a fuss in the comments of my last post about Lancias, where most of you asked why the Lancia Delta integrale HF or EVO was missing in my Top Five plus one, I felt the need to write these few lines.
The Delta integrale in its many version is indeed an extremely good car, across the eighties and nineties it achieved the record of six victories in a row at the World Rally Championship for manufacturers, and an overall number of 46 victories in other rally competitions.
Powerful, four wheel drive, with a great acceleration and an awesome noise coming off from its exhaust, the Delta is one of the best Lancia ever made, if not THE best Lancia.
I can stay here and talk about numbers as horsepower, torque and go on with technical details, I can, but I won't.
I want just leave here a couple of video for the joy of the Delta integrale fans and say that after all, I’m comfortable with my list : 5) Aurelia 4) Aprilia 3) 2000 HF 2) Fulvia 1) Stratos HF Stradale and as plus 1 The Lancia 037 .
I Haven't found a worthy video about the Delta Integrale EVO if someone have better material please share it in the comment! Said this...
I still prefer the 037 and the reason is simple, because this nifty car, made in a moment of crisis for Lancia, with no money and no four wheel drive, driven by a pilot not even motivated to win, achieved great results, with the help of some clever tricks yes, but this is the Italian way, like it or not.
In the end, when something is always favorite, gaining victories over victories, is great but a little boring isn't it? But when the losers climbs up to success...well that's what made stories epics.
