Land of the Rising Sun - Day: Gacha Cruiser

Gachapon can throw some pleasant surprises

1y ago

Weekend is done and dusted, it has come and gone. Duh.

Not going to dwell much about the two cars showcased. One is a 3$ odd plastic dispensed toy, and the other is the benchmark in miniature FJs. The comparison was more interesting than I thought.

First, the JL Cruiser in a stock avatar. It is hard not to fall in love with this.

Even though it is imperfect, largely due to the occasional factory mess-up, there is literally nothing to dampen the aura of the car.

On to the Gacha then.

Surprise. It even gets separate headlamps.

The rear hatch hides a sports bar, presumably for a later run of the pick-up version. It even gets a pair of side mirrors! The wheels are remarkable too.

The tail does not pop up any major surprises, pleasant nor unpleasant.

The Gacha is unlikely to threaten the JL casting, but it does a remarkable job of replicating the Cruiser, and is truly worth the money spent.

The Johnny Lighting, meanwhile, will remain as the must - have J40, at least until Tomytec decides to throw one under their belt.

Thanks for stopping by! Have an awesome week ahead!

  • Gacha cars have become my ultimate unobtanium, even more so than 1:64 Super GT racers or Ferraris or F1 cars. Especially because I found a teeny-tiny McLaren Formula 1 model that I'm pretty sure either came from Gacha or those coffee brands. Not the super-deformed chibi ones too, no. The example I have is way more detailed than that, which is impressive given that I'm pretty sure it's 1:72 or smaller.

    • Have a snap to share? Have never seen a Gacha McLaren but my knowledge in this domain is pretty small.

  • For a $3 plastic dispenser toy that Gacha is looking good. More info on this please.

    • Yeah, it looks like a new release, and I have to admit I did not buy it the conventional way (relied on a reseller to get the car). Still haven't seen it appear in the local Gacha dispensers. It is apparently made by Platz....
